Profile: Christi Wolgemuth
Growing up in Madison, Christi Wolgemuth knew early on that she wanted to be a veterinarian, so it's not surprising that upon arriving at Mississippi State as a freshman, she chose to follow the pre-vet track.
As a biological engineering major, she craved the opportunity to be more involved with research, so when a research opportunity for undergraduates became available in the Laboratory of Animal Functional Genomics at the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences, she jumped at the chance to get some early experience.
After three years as an undergraduate research assistant, Christi has had the chance to work in some of the university's most exciting research, a chance not always afforded undergraduates. She currently is conducting research on animal functional genomics.
"This has been such an exciting opportunity," Christi said. "The research we are doing has such an impact on society and research in general. This has been a great experience for me as an undergraduate to gain experience normally only available to master's and doctoral students."
