Profile: Regina Brotherton
Regina Brotherton came to Mississippi State earlier this year to help start a veterinary medical technology program at MSU's College of Veterinary Medicine. And, she hopes to accomplish more through the program than just training specialists to work alongside veterinarians.
The new program is one of only 21 bachelor's degree programs in the U.S. and MSU's veterinary school is one of only three in the nation providing the opportunity to partner undergraduate students with vet students to train them in animal nursing, emergency care, and dentistry.
Brotherton, who holds a bachelor's degree in business administration, a doctorate in veterinary medicine, and a doctorate in human development and education, hopes to build a model program that brings together multiple disciplines.
"Personally, I want to make an impact on collaborative learning," Brotherton said. "This is a wonderful opportunity to bring veterinary technology education and veterinary training together and have a positive impact on the profession and how we deliver care."
