Profile: Greg Bentley
Junior Greg Bentley rarely remembers a time growing up in Eastaboga, Ala., that he didn't have a fishing rod in his hand.
The forestry major's love of fishing turned competitive early, when he began fishing in local crappie and bass tournaments near his home. After transferring to Mississippi State from Gadsden State Community College, he assumed he would have to leave competitive fishing behind. Then, he learned of the MSU Bass Club that competes against other colleges and universities regionally and nationally.
Joining the club during his first semester here, Bentley has ascended to head the club as president and hopes to continue to grow it into one of the most competitive in the sport.
"Being a part of the MSU Bass Club has allowed me to bring a little piece of home with me and also gives me a way to represent the university against schools from all over the United States," Bentley said. "This has given me an opportunity to meet people I probably never would have been able to meet, and it has opened doors to friendships I'll probably have for the rest of my life."
