Black History Month celebrations and events began Wednesday [Feb. 1] with a presentation about Fannie Lou Hamer given by her adopted daughter, Jacqueline Hamer Flakes, approximately 54 years after the famed civil rights pioneer first spoke to Mississippi State students.
