Cowbells and Paint Pails

Leah Kemp, executive director of the Fred Carl Jr. Small Town Center, holds an illustration of a cowbell-themed mural associated with the University Drive Corridor Connections project Friday [July 22] as volunteers paint the design onto a portion of the street near its intersection with Camp Street. Dozens of volunteers spent the weekend painting murals on portions of University Drive and adding similar motifs to its crosswalks. A portion of the project was funded by a $25,000 Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Asphalt Art Initiative grant secured by the center on behalf of the City of Starkville.
