Fred Curry and Postmaster Ken Oglesbee with the U.S. Post Office at Mississippi State help Ty Abernathy, the last customer on the last day of the post office's operation in the YMCA Building. Abernathy, associate research professor at MSU’s Social Science Research Center, said the old P.O. is a place of university nostalgia, but he also plans to be one of the first customers next week at the new location in the Roberts Building. The post office will be closed all day on Friday [May 20] as it relocates to 414 Lee Blvd. Box mail is expected to be available starting Saturday [May 21] after 10:30 a.m. at the new location. Retail operations will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday [May 23].
