Second-grader Austin Hayes of Clarkdale Attendance Center in Meridian gets a little help from mom Mollie with making final touch-ups on his "How to Make the Best Cookie" science fair project. Held Thursday at Humphrey Coliseum, the lower fair competition for grades K-5 is part of the Region V Mississippi Science and Engineering Fair hosted by Mississippi State's James Worth Bagley College of Engineering.
