STARKVILLE, Miss.—More than 40 chapters and clubs of the Mississippi State University Alumni Association will host summer send-off parties for new MSU students July 21–Aug. 5.
Now in its 17th year, this MSU tradition allows incoming freshmen and transfer students and their families to meet with alumni, friends and current students to learn more about life at the university. The events also serve as a networking tool, enabling participants to establish meaningful connections with fellow Bulldogs near their hometown.
This year’s send-off parties will welcome new Bulldogs from across Mississippi, as well as 11 other states—Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. Students and their families are invited to attend the send-off party in their local county or out-of-state area.
“We are eager to welcome these new students to the MSU family,” said Jeff Davis, MSU Alumni Association executive director. “Send-off parties provide the opportunity to connect new students and their parents to each other and to alumni in their local area. Students can come to MSU with peace of mind knowing that they have a community that will support them every step of their new academic journey.”

MSU has more than 157,000 living alumni and more than 100 alumni chapters and clubs. Alumni engagement opportunities stem from tailgates to the Bulldog Network mentoring program to various annual events.
