Dean of College of Forest Resources Candidate One announced

Mississippi State University and the Search Committee for the Dean of the College of Forest Resources invite interested members of the campus community to attend public presentations by each finalist. The CFR dean also will serve as director of the university’s Forest and Wildlife Research Center.            

Candidate One: Dr. Wes Burger, Monday, Oct. 25, at 10:30 a.m.

Dr. Loren “Wes” Burger currently serves in as the Interim Dean, College of Forest Resources, and Interim Director, Forest and Wildlife Research Center, at Mississippi State. He also is Associate Director of the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station and the FWRC. He previously has served as the university’s Interim Head for the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering; Interim Associate Director for MAFES/FWRC; and Associate Director for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Geosystems Research Institute. The Professor of Wildlife Ecology joined the MSU faculty in 1993.

Dr. Burger completed doctoral work in wildlife biology at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he also completed his master’s degree. He has an undergraduate degree in both biology and mathematics from Murray State University.
