Vice President for DAFVM Candidate Two announced
Mississippi State University and the Search Committee for the Vice President for the Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine invite interested members of the campus community to attend public presentations by each finalist.

Dr. Alan Sams currently serves as Oregon State University’s Reub Long Dean and Director for the College of Agricultural Sciences and Agricultural Experiment Station. He is the Chief Executive Officer for all OSU teaching, research and extension programs in agriculture and related natural resources in Oregon. He previously served as Executive Associate Dean for Texas A&M University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and as Dean of Clemson University’s College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences. He also served as department head and a faculty member in Texas A&M University’s Department of Poultry Science.
Dr. Sams completed his doctoral work at the University of Florida in food science and human nutrition. He also completed a master’s in poultry science and bachelor’s in poultry science & food and resource economics, also at the University of Florida.
