STARKVILLE, Miss.—Students now have even more reasons to spend their summer break at Mississippi State.

With the launch of MSU’s comprehensive Summer Advantage initiative, scholars at every level can choose from an updated, expanded selection of learning programs to advance their academic journeys in a more-relaxed setting.

Earn credits. Take a refresher course. Acquire new skills. Study abroad. Whatever the academic goal, MSU Summer Advantage can help students achieve it.

“Summer is a season for learning and growth at Mississippi State,” said MSU President Mark E. Keenum. “MSU Summer Advantage considers the needs of all students by offering a wide variety of courses and study options that make a high-quality college education more accessible and convenient.”

Current students can enroll in MSU Summer Advantage to get a head start on the fall semester, finish core course requirements, take classes within majors or pick up extra credits to accelerate graduation. They also can explore new subject areas, concentrate on difficult courses and benefit from smaller classes taught by MSU’s world-class faculty.

For incoming freshmen and transfers, MSU provides a welcoming introduction to college life through summer courses, residence hall living and opportunities to meet fellow Bulldog students and professors.

Meanwhile, students around the world have the flexibility to take online courses with degree and certificate programs developed and taught by MSU faculty.

MSU’s study-abroad programs offer students full academic credit while providing unforgettable learning experiences such as studying agriculture in New Zealand, alternative energy sources in Iceland, art and design in Paris or wildlife conservation in the heart of Africa.

Students beyond college can benefit from a refresher course, earn recertification, expand business skills or learn a new subject. The schedule includes multiple campus and online courses of varying lengths between May and August to accommodate many needs and interests.

“We invite students from around the world to consider MSU Summer Advantage,” said Keenum. “Participating in this initiative is a great way to enjoy the best of summer and the best of Mississippi State University.”
