STARKVILLE, Miss.—LANY, a three-piece alternative band from California, is the concert headliner Saturday [April 1] for Mississippi State’s 2017 Old Main Music Festival.

Organized by student-staffed Music Maker Productions, the free event at the university amphitheater gets underway at 3 p.m. with fun outdoor activities, an art market, offerings by local food vendors and the music of various local artists.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. with lead-in acts Oh Jeremiah and ELEL.

Made up of three friends from Los Angeles, LANY released its first extended-play album, “Acronyms,” in 2014. Another release, “ILYSB,” generated such significant fan and corporate interest that a record deal was signed in 2015 with Britain’s Polydor Records. For more information, see www.thisislany.com.

Founded in 2012, Oh Jeremiah is the singing/songwriting duo of Jeremiah Stricklin and Erin Raber, formerly of Hattiesburg and now of Athens, Georgia. “The Other End of Passing Time” is the married couple’s debut album. For more, see www.ohjeremiahmusic.com.

ELEL is an indie-pop group from Nashville, Tennessee, that launched in 2013. A debut single, “40 Watt,” garnered millions of plays and put the seven-member group into national radio rotation, including Alt Nation’s Top 18. After signing with Mom + Pop Music of New York City, the band released a self-titled EP. For more, see www.elelmusic.com.
