"Bleed Maroon" blood drive kicks off April 12

Mississippi State campus radio station WMSV 91.1 FM and United Blood Services will host a week-long blood drive event April 12-17 -- believed to be the first of its kind. “I Bleed Maroon” will consist of nine blood drives in six days and will be held at bloodmobiles located throughout campus and in Starkville. Each donor will receive a free “I Bleed Maroon” T-shirt and free cover to Rick’s Cafe on April 25. They’ll also be entered into a daily drawing for prizes and for the grand prize, a free semester of textbooks from Barnes & Noble. Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 years old must have signed permission from a parent or guardian. Donors receive a free cholesterol test. A photo ID is required to donate. For more information, please contact Caroline Pugh at 662-321-9988, or follow the event on Twitter at twitter.com/ibleedmaroonmsu.
