The Starkville/MSU Community Band will present its first concert of 2024 2 p.m. March in the Kent Sills Band Hall on the campus of Mississippi State University at 72 Hardy Road.
The program will open with Aaron Copeland’s iconic "Fanfare for the Common Man," followed by Jay Dawson’s light-hearted "Fanfare, Mules and Roosters." The program will continue with a tribute to composer Robert W. Smith with his musical description of the Vietnam War, "Mekong," and a beautiful composition, "Vespers of Light." The concert will conclude with Mississippi composer Ayatey Shabazz’s "Of Honor and Valor Eternal."
There is no charge for admission.
