Carl Small Town Center wins national award
The Carl Small Town Center's efforts to help revitalize a historic African American neighborhood in Greenwood is being recognized by the American Planning Association. During the APA's National Planning Conference April 12, CSTC director John Poros and assistant director Leah Kemp will accept the group's Outstanding Student Project award for the center's Baptist Town project.

Men's Golf opens play in the Reunion Intercollegiate Monday... Baseball travels to Trustmark Park on Tuesday for a 6:30 p.m. game with Southern Miss, and then opens a weekend series with Florida on Friday at 6:30 p.m.... Softball faces Southern Miss on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the M&F Bank Fastpitch Classic in Madison, and will host Auburn for a Super Bulldog Weekend series beginning Friday at 5 p.m.... Women's Tennis hosts Auburn at 3 p.m. on Friday, and then Alabama on Sunday at 1 p.m.... Football plays the annual Maroon/White Spring Game Saturday at 5 p.m.... Track & Field heads west on Wednesday for the Texas Relays.

University to honor outstanding women Tuesday
Mississippi State is honoring eight university and community women for contributions to the land-grant institution. During a public reception Tuesday, the President's Commission on the Status of Women formally introduces its 2011 Outstanding Women Award winners and recognizes the nominees.
