August 15, 2013

Scam Alert -- Mississippi State University has been notified of a potential scam targeting students at other state institutions of higher learning. The reported activities involve an unknown person, purporting to be from Washington, D.C., contacting students to request personal banking information related to federal financial aid. This is believed to be a scam. No legitimate source would request a student’s bank account information by phone, and students are advised to treat such calls as phishing attempts. If you receive such a call, please do not respond. If you need financial aid assistance, please contact the Department of Student Financial Aid at 662-325-2450.
