Unity Week includes speakers, food, music and more


April 1, 2013

MSU Unity Week has been designed to celebrate diversity and community through entertainment, speakers, dialogues, food and music. It is a planned, collaborative effort between the Holmes Cultural Diversity Center, students, faculty, administrators and staff.

Monday [April 1]
Abbie Conant Recital

Tuesday [April 2]
Diversity Uncovered
11 a.m.-1 p.m., Colvard Student Union, Room 328
--What is the state of diversity at STATE? An opportunity to anonymously share your thoughts, ideas, and concerns about diversity

Gender Studies Lecture-Abbie Conant
3:30 p.m., Colvard Student Union, Room 328
--Abbie Conant battled a 13-year gender discrimination battle with the Munich Philharmonic orchestra. She will discuss the status of women in European orchestras.

Café International
5 p.m., Old Intramural Field
--Basant (kite flying) is held in the Pakistani culture to welcome the arrival of spring. Come join us for kite making and kite flying!

Wednesday [April 3]
International Taster
11 a.m.-1 p.m., Drill Field
--Come enjoy a variety of foods and beverages from all over the world and celebrate the diverse cultures of our campus and surrounding community.

Pizza Wars
11 a.m.-3 p.m., the Junction
--A friendly showdown competition between local pizza businesses to receive the "Best Pizza" award and "People's Choice" award. Tickets are $5 to receive a slice of pizza from each business. All proceeds for Pizza Wars will benefit the Maroon Edition Habitat for Humanity house.

Water Wars
9-10 p.m., Old Intramural Field
--Did someone say balloon fight? Please join us for a wet and wild campus balloon fight to raise funds for cleaner water in Africa. All proceeds will go to the Water Project Inc.

Friday [April 5]
