COASTAL COUNTIES PROGRAM |

The Mississippi State University Extension Service and the Mississippi Forestry Commission have provided the leadership and grant money allocation to create the position of coastal counties urban forester and arborist. The primary function of this position is to provide education and outreach to coastal Mississippi's homeowners, builders, contractors, and local governments. The urban forester/arborist will assist in the protection of existing urban forest resources during post hurricane Katrina reconstruction as well as provide assistance with replanting efforts. These functions may be achieved through personal site visits, seminars, and publication distribution. |
